If you have completed a defensive driving course, you may be able to save on your auto insurance premiums when buying a new or used car either by financing, leasing or through a bank car loan.

Regulatory traffic signs instruct drivers what they should, or should not do, in certain circumstances. You will be asked to identify roadway signs on the PA Permit Test.

Prepare for Your Permit Practice Test, PA

Getting ready for your permit practice test in Pennsylvania? We’ll help you be ready to go!

Arrive @ PennDOT

You’ll need to go to your nearest PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) Drivers License Center. If you don’t know where your nearest Center is, you can find it online. You can take public transportation to get there, or you can have someone with a valid license drive you, but you can’t drive yourself there yet!

Don’t forget to bring your check for the $35 fee with you! PennDOT Drivers License Centers only accept check or money order, so cash or plastic won’t do you any good.

Vision Test

Have you had a vision test recently? You’ll want to be sure you’ll pass the vision test at the Center on your first try. Most health insurance policies pay for an annual vision test at an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Some people do need to wear glasses just for driving, so if you can get your vision tested before going to the Center, it may save you time and trouble.

Written Test

You’ll want to prepare thoroughly for the written test. It will be 18 questions long, based on the Pennsylvania Driver’s Manual. You’ll need to answer 15 questions correctly in order to pass the test. If you don’t have a copy of the Manual, you can find the PDF online, or listen to the audio version of the manual online if that suits your learning style better. There are also a variety of practice tests available online. We suggest using the practice tests from PennDOT, rather than other sites, as these are likely to be the most accurate.

We know that a permit practice test can be a stressful experience, but we’re here to make it easier for you! If you have any questions or would like more information on an aspect of the test, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!
