Everything You Need to Know About the Ohio Temp Test

There are nearly 8 million licensed drivers in Ohio and if you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering how to become one of them. The first thing you have to do is get your learner’s permit. There are four steps to getting your Ohio temporary instruction permit, the most important of which is passing your Ohio temp test. Keep reading to learn more.

REQUIREMENTS

To take your Ohio temp test, or TIPIC, you must be 15-and-a-half years old. Next, you must pass a vision test and pay a $22 fee. In Ohio, you have the opportunity to register as an organ donor at this point, contrary to the usual requirement of being 18.

OHIO TEMP TEST

The Ohio temp test consists of 40 questions. To get your permit, you must score at least a 75%. This means you must answer at least 30 questions correctly. The test is available in seven languages, you have 25 minutes to complete it and you have to wait a day before you retake it if you fail the first time. The permit test will cover your knowledge on highway warnings, motor vehicle laws, traffic signs and what they mean and the rules of the road.

To prevent you from having to retake your permit test, try taking free practice tests online before you go. These practice written exams range from easy to very hard. They also offer the OH BMV exam simulator. The Ohio DMV is also another great resource for practice tests, but you may have to pay for access to enough questions to begin feeling comfortable with your temp test.
