Understanding the Ohio BMV Permit Test

In Ohio, you can begin driving six months after you turn 15. That is, if you have passed the written test and obtained a driver’s permit.

This doesn’t mean that you should just wait until your fifteenth half-birthday arrives and then show up at the BMV expecting to leave with a permit. Driving seems easy, but there is more to it than you may think.

If you want to ensure that you pass the Ohio BMV permit test on your first try, you must practice and study the handbook. This is something that can easily be done months before you make an appointment to get your driver’s permit, and if you want to get your permit as soon as possible, then this preparation is necessary.

It is important to understand that the Ohio BMV permit test will ask you questions about Ohio state driving laws and about road signs. Some of these laws and road signs will be easy because you will recall knowing them from your daily travel. For example, you probably know that the speed limit sign tells you how fast to drive on a given road, and that different roads have different limits. Did you know that in Ohio, some speed limits change daily or even hourly?

All laws and road signs are worth studying because there are many that you likely do not know, and you will do better on your Ohio BMV permit test if you study in advance. At Driver’s Knowledge, we have put together eight different practice tests that will help you on your driving journey. These tests include everything that you could be tested on when you get to the BMV. Contact us to learn more about how to obtain a driver’s permit and a driver’s license, and let us help you practice for your permit test.
