Pass Your NC DMV Permit Test the First Time

There were nearly 7.4 million licensed drivers in North Carolina, and that number increases every year. To get your North Carolina driver’s license, you must first pass the NC DMV permit test. This knowledge test consists of 25 questions, and you must score at least an 80% to obtain your permit. This means correctly answering no fewer than 20 questions. WHAT TO EXPECT

North Carolina uses a GDL, or graduated driver’s license, program. To get your learner’s permit, you must be at least 15. To get a restricted or intermediate license, you must have your permit for no less than a year, be at least 16, and complete at least 60 hours of supervised driving. You must complete at least 10 hours of driving at night during your learner. During your intermediate phase, you must drive at least 12 hours, six hours of which must be at night.

HOW TO PASS YOUR PERMIT TEST THE FIRST TIME

To pass your NC DMV permit test the first time, you should take several free online practice tests. If you do not pass your test the first time, you must wait at least seven days to retake your test.
